6/9/11  Steve Popovich, a friend of our radio program for many years ever since we've been on the air, has passed away.  He was from Nemacolin, PA, but settled in Cleveland, Ohio, for most of his years.  Get his obituary here from Cleveland.com.  R.I.P. Steve.

4/28/11  Our phone-answerer extraordinaire, Don Rutkauskas, is taking a sebatical for the summer to work on some health problems. Don was instrumental in getting us back on the air in 1997 when we became disillusioned with the radio biz. Without Don's encouragement back then, we probably wouldn't be on the air today. Get well, Don, and happy (semi) retirement from our radio program.

Thank you!

3/18/11  Our website viewers find out first:  Beginning tomorrow, Saturday, March 19, 2011, Prime Time Polkas will now be heard from 11am-12:30pm on 620 AM KHB / 94.1 FM.  We regret having to cut our show short of 2 hours (for the first time in its history), but we have to do it for financial reasons.  It was solely our decision to do this.  As with most things, it takes money.  There's a distinct possibility we can go back to a full 2-hour program by picking up an additional sponsor or two.  For more info & details on becoming a sponsor, contact us.  However, to pick up the slack, Jack Tady's Polka Place will now run from 12:30-2pm.  Polkas are still alive & well in Pittsburgh, Pa.!

620 KHB ON THE FM SIDE OF THE DIAL (from PBRTV.com)
2/15/11  620 KHB is now simulcasting on 94.1 FM.  If you're in the Mon Valley (PA) area, you can listen to us on 94.1 FM.  This FM signal is low power at the moment, so it's not traveling too far.  But the word is its power will be increased to cover a significant portion of the Pittsburgh suburban area.  Stay close to us either here on our website or on facebook for the latest regarding this great news!  Don't worry...if you can't pull in 94.1 FM where you are, you'll still be able to catch us on 620 AM KHB, Pittsburgh's second strongest AM signal.

10/19/10  Our Live365 broadcasting station has grown exponentially over the past 10 years.  We're truly worldwide with listeners from Slovenia to the Republic of Moldova!  But how 'bout the U.S.?  From what American locales are the most listeners tuning in?  Check out our top 21 cities here*.  You may be surprised.  (*This is only a "snapshot" of listeners tuning from the time period of Oct. 1-19, 2010.)

10/15/10  View some pictures of our annual Oktoberfest from Sunday, October 10, 2010, on Facebook.

10/15/10  Pics have posted at BarSmart.com from Penn Brewery's Oktoberfest Celebration with Autobahn on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010.

9/16/10  Pittsburgh's Post Gazette newspaper has an article about the National Cleveland Style Polka Hall of Fame in its Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 publication in the Magazine section.  If you missed it, go here to read it.

8/26/10  Catch the "Steve Meisner and Friends" performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., as they represented the state of Wisconsin.  Recorded live on Wednesday, August 25, 2010.  Click the pic above.

7/20/10  Johnny Koenig has joined PledgeMusic.com to donate 15% of his merchandise sales of his upcoming project Party Like A Polka Star to the American Cancer Society.  See how you can become involved by visiting Johnny's PledgeMusic.com page.

6/11/10  We'd like to welcome more new sponsors to our program:  Calandrella's Garage and Salvage of Tinsmill, Avonmore, PA, who sponsors the Weekender segment of our KHB show, Slovenian Savings and Loan Association of Canonsburg and Imperial SNPJ Lodge #106 as the newest members of our Prime Time family of sponsors.  Remember, we (and they) would appreciate your patronage whenever possible because our sponsors make it possible for Prime Time Polkas to exist as it is today.

The Polka Times newspaper has been serving the Pennsylvania & Ohio areas with news & happenings of the polka circuit since 2003, having since gone national the past few years.  Visit their new website for details about the publication & how you can become a subscriber.

3/27/10  We're very saddened to report the passing of Steve Pucker shown here singing his signature "Just Because Polka" on the Gateway Clipper in July 2005 with the Jack Tady Band.  Steve was a great friend of us & our radio program for many years.  You can view an article written about him back in 2006 in the Pittsburgh Senior Times.  Rest in peace, Stevo.  You will be missed.

POLKA
Another world wide option for internet polka radio is now available powered by AOL Radio.  It's relatively new, brodcasting a variety of polka music in CD quality.  Get directly to AOL's Polka Radio Station here.  Of course, for the best in polkas & waltzes online, tune in our stuff available on our Broadcasts page.

We've created quite a stir with Walter Ostanek's recent release of the song "Waltz of the Angels" on his Back to Back Hall of Fame Polkas CD...not only on our show, but filtering into other area polka shows as well.  As soon as we heard the song, we knew it would be a hit.  Check Walter's February 20th blog for some background info on the song & why it took four years to finally get it released.  There's also a link to preview "Waltz of the Angels" if you haven't heard it as of yet.

Here's an interesting mini-documentary of Slovenefest 2008, the SNPJ and the SNPJ Recreation Center in the Borough of SNPJ (Enon Valley), PA.

Big things are in the works for our Live365 Broadcasting Station.  We admit it is in need of some updating.  To be honest, the last time we updated was Nov. '07!  A new computer & a 500GB hard drive will make this much easier for us.  The playlist will be overhauled to include the very latest polka recordings to the classics of the 1940s, 1950s and up.  The station's bitrate will be increased to 32kbps in mp3pro stereo sound.  This is a monumental undertaking considering our current Live365 playlist is close to 34 hours with over 700 "best of"polkas & waltzes, so give us time.  We promise it'll be worth the wait!  In the meantime, if you'd like to sign up as a VIP Live365 member & listen to polka music ad-free, click the link below.  It also helps us pay for the station, so click up & join today.
Here's a brief but very informative history of Slovenian style polkas in Cleveland, OH.

Are you concerned with the rising epidemic of polka addiction?  Well, you should be.  View one man's story on "Freaks, Geeks & Addicts" with correspondent Seymour Butts on YouTube.  For your information, that one man fronts Larry Klima's favorite alternative punk rock polka band.
